Bangkok, Thailand
This photo was taken in Bangkok, in a strange alley I crossed almost every day near where I lived for a month. On one side, a worn, almost abandoned building. On the other, the elevated metro — massive, brutal.
What struck me was the absence of sunlight. People here once lived with daylight, until this concrete ceiling was built, stealing it from them. There’s something violent in that.
So I used flash. Pink. An artificial, absurd light to reawaken a corner that had become dark at every hour. A soft and strange attempt to bring a little warmth back to a place that no longer sees the day.

Bangkok, Thaïlande
Cette photo a été prise à Bangkok, dans une impasse étrange que je traversais presque tous les jours, près de l’endroit où j’ai vécu un mois. D’un côté, un immeuble usé, presque abandonné. De l’autre, le métro aérien — massif, brutal.
Ce qui m’a frappé, c’est l’absence totale de soleil. Les habitants vivaient autrefois avec la lumière, jusqu’à la construction de ce plafond de béton qui la leur a volée. Il y a quelque chose de violent là-dedans.
Alors j’ai mis du flash. Rose. Une lumière artificielle, absurde, pour réanimer un coin devenu sombre à toute heure. Une tentative douce et étrange de redonner un peu de chaleur à un lieu qui ne voit plus le jour.

曼谷，泰国
这张照片拍摄于曼谷，在一条奇怪的小巷里，我在那附近住了一个月，几乎每天都会路过。一边是破旧、几乎废弃的建筑；另一边是高架地铁——庞大、粗暴。
让我震撼的是阳光的完全缺失。这里的人们曾经生活在光下，直到这片混凝土天花板建起，把光夺走了。这其中有一种残酷。
于是我用了闪光灯。粉色的。一种人为的、荒诞的光，重新点亮这个时时刻刻都阴暗的角落。一次柔和而奇异的尝试，想把一点温度带回到这个再也见不到阳光的地方。
