Bangkok, Thailand
This photo was taken in Bangkok, in a strange alley I often crossed, near where I lived for a month. On one side, a worn, almost abandoned building. On the other, the elevated metro, massive and brutal.
What struck me was the absence of sunlight. People here once lived with the light, until this concrete ceiling was built, stealing it away. There’s something brutal in that.
So I used flash. Pink. An artificial, absurd light to reanimate a corner that had become dark at all hours. A soft and strange attempt to bring back a little warmth to a place that no longer sees the day.

Bangkok, Thaïlande
Cette photo a été prise à Bangkok, dans une impasse étrange que je traversais souvent, près de là où j’ai vécu un mois. D’un côté, un immeuble usé, presque abandonné. De l’autre, le métro aérien, massif, brutal.
Ce qui m’a frappé, c’est l’absence de soleil. Les habitants d’ici vivaient avec la lumière autrefois, jusqu’à ce qu’on construise ce plafond de béton qui leur a volé la lumière. Il y a quelque chose de brutal là-dedans.
Alors j’ai mis du flash. Du rose. Une lumière artificielle, absurde, pour réanimer un coin devenu sombre à toute heure. C’est une tentative douce et étrange de redonner un peu de chaleur à un endroit qui ne voit plus le jour.

曼谷，泰国
这张照片拍摄于曼谷，在一条奇怪的死胡同里，我常常穿过那里，就在我曾住过一个月的地方附近。一边是一栋破旧、几乎被遗弃的建筑，另一边是庞大的高架地铁，厚重而粗暴。
让我震撼的是阳光的缺失。这里的居民曾经生活在光下，直到那片混凝土天花板建起，把光夺走了。这其中有一种残酷。
于是我打了闪光。粉色的。一种人为的、荒谬的光，重新点亮了这个无论何时都阴暗的角落。这是一种温柔而奇异的尝试，想给一个再也见不到阳光的地方带回一点温暖。
